Road Trip Pillow Bag-A Fat Quarter Shop Blog Remix
Hello and happy summer! I hope you all are enjoying some sunshine wherever you are. Today I wanted to pop in quickly and share a fun finish with a nod to summer road trips.
Recently I had the pleasure of working on a project remix with Fat Quarter Shop. Doesn’t it look fabulous with my Yarn Bomb Trees Quilt
You can find the original post and step by step instructions Here
Let’s talk fabric for a minute shall we? Tell me you don’t LOVE the fabulous fish print!! It’s getting harder to find but Fat Quarter Shop still has tiny bit left.
The blue at the top and on the handles is called Sketched Lines by Connecting Threads. Looks like they are out of the navy right now but they have other colors available.
I spent just a few extra minutes in the preparation stage to make sure my fishies were all swimming the same direction on both the front and the back of the pillow. It’s not necessary if you aren’t using a directional print but if you are it’s worth the extra time in my opinion.
Make sure you spend a few minutes reading the instructions on the original post for more details. They give step by steps for attaching the handles which made it super easy.
Ignore the un-manicured hands 🙂
Paying attention to my swimming fishies again.
The instructions were clear and easy to follow. I always appreciate a nice finished edge!
Love the navy and fuschia together. I’m a color girl at heart and love mixing and matching or contrasting as much as possible.
I took a few minutes to pull out my super old serger out so I could finish the inside edges of my pillow in an attempt to prevent fraying. If you haven’t noticed a theme there’s a bit of OCD perfectionist living inside me 🙂
The finished pillow is super fun and I will definitely be using it for some upcoming road trips.
Make sure you head to Fat Quarter Shop’s Blog The Jolly Jabber to find the tutorial and then for a roundup of other quilty bloggers who remade the Road Trip Pillow Bag.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoy some summery goodness today!
xoxo!
