What you should know.
Rates~
I charge 2 cents per square inch for standard edge to edge quilting.
Heavy or dense quilting is 2.5 – 3 cents per square inch, depending on time spent quilting.
I am not custom quilting at this time.
To calculate the area of your quilt multiply the length x the width in inches.
Example: A quilt top measuring 60″ x 80″ is 4800 sq inches (60 x 80 = 4800). Quilting charge would be $96 (4800 x .02).
I am able to quilt quilts up to 120″ on my current machine.
Minimum charge is $40.
Thread charge is $2 per bobbin. My machine uses large bobbins so the average cost is $4-$10.
Optional charges ~
Batting ~ Winline 80/20 blend $11.99 per yard.
Other battings options are available upon request.
Piecing the back of your quilt ~ $10 for quilting cotton or flannel, $20 for Minky.
Trimming your quilt after quilting ~ $10. I will square up and trim the edges of your quilt prepping it for binding.
Binding ~ 20 cents per inch. I will attach premade binding that you provide to the back of the quilt and machine stitch it down on the front. I can create the binding for you with fabric you provide for $10.
Designs ~ You can find a list of many of my available edge to edge quilting designs here Quilting Designs
Shipping ~
To Me ~ I currently live in Farmington, Utah, USA. You are welcome to ship your quilt directly to me or drop it off in person. Please submit your quilting request prior to shipping or dropping off your quilt. It helps keep everything organized. You can find the order form located here Longarm Quilting Order Form Once the order is received I will provide you with my mailing address for shipping or drop off. If you are shipping your quilt to me, PLEASE enclose everything you are sending in a plastic bag of some kind and then place it all in a hard sided box. This will help prevent any possible liquid or moisture damage in transit. Please make sure the box is securely taped and labeled. USPS provides free shipping boxes if you are using their Flat Rate service. It is often a way to save a bit in the cost of shipping.
Return Shipping ~ I will return your quilt to you in the same manner described above, using USPS Priority Mail. Priority Mail includes tracking and insurance. Additional insurance can be purchased at USPS rates upon request. I do not mark up shipping costs in any way and charge only what USPS charges.
Payment ~ Payment in full is due when the quilt is ready for pickup or prior to shipping. You are welcome to make a deposit in advance ensuring your place in line. The deposit will also provide you with a guaranteed completition date (barring any unforeseen circumstances). Advance deposit is not required, however without one your quilt will be placed in line according to arrival date. If I am shipping your quilt back to you I will email you an invoice and we can make payment arrangements prior to shipping. For both in person pickup and shipping, I can take cash, check, Venmo or PayPal. PayPal requires an additional 4% to cover fees.
Rush ~ Rush quilting and shipping can be done for an additional fee depending on current workload and requested turnaround times. Please reach out with questions.
Quilt Prep
Please make sure all quilt tops and backing fabrics are pressed and seams are secured. I recommend trimming any loose threads prior to sending me your quilt top. Dark threads can easily show through the quilt top and will be impossible to remove after quilting. Please make sure to contact me prior to shipping if your quilt top contains a large amount of applique or embellishments. Often it is best to attach applique pieces after quilting, however some items can be attached and quilted through. I require the backing and batting to be 4″ larger on ALL sides. For example if your quilt top measures 60″ x 80″ please send me a backing and batting that measures at least 68″ x 88″. It can be larger than 4″ on all sides but not smaller. Please square up your quilt top and backing prior to shipping or drop off. If your backing is directional please note that on your order form. It is especially helpful to pin a note to the top of the backing if there are any questions about the direction it should be quilted. Contact me with any questions. Extra fees may apply if your quilt top or backing are not square or prepped for quilting. The time it takes to load a quilt onto my machine is quite intensive and any extra time needed will be charged accordingly.
Disclaimer
Please be aware that the quality of the quilting on your quilt is directly related to the integrity of the quilt top and the prep work undertaken prior to quilting. I firmly believe that perfect quilts do not exist however, the extra time you take in construction and prep will help ensure the best possible outcome. I promise to always do my very best to provide you with an heirloom quilt you can be proud of. I cannot be held responsible for problems that arise due to loose seams or threads in your quilt top, thick points or bumps due to the piecing of the quilt, dark threads showing through the quilt top after quilting, fullness in the border or throughout the quilt or any problems that arise outside of my control. Please remember that while I am using a machine to quilt your quilt, I am still a human being. I am a wife and mother and run a very busy business. I am not available 24 hours a day. If you have any questions please contact me prior to shipping or dropping off your quilt.
Pets
We love our pets, as many of you do as well. While we are a pet friendly home, they are not allowed in my quilting studio. If you have SEVERE allergies that may be worsened due to possible pet hair transfer I may not be the quilter for you. I keep my studio very clean but it is inevitable that some pet hair will travel on my clothes etc and I would hate for someone to get sick as a result.
